“Islam talks about balance. No one can be perfect. Your relationship with God is something between just you and God. Islam can be interpreted in many different ways, and I am a very big fan of my mother’s interpretation. She is my role model. She tries to use examples from the Qur’aan in a modern sense. Instead of going back to the time of the Prophet [Muhammad (peace be upon him)], we must place the Qur’aan in a contemporary context.”

I’m terrified of this culture I see on tumblr which dictates that if a person does something wrong, or makes a mistake, or displays a moment of ignorance they are trash and worthless and deserve to be torn to shreds. A human being does not stop being a human being because they said something stupid. The idea that we should all aspire to a very specific sense of social and ideological purity or we deserve to die is dictatorial and frankly frightening.

Field Guide to attending a Troye Sivan concert

conniesivany:

  • Drink plenty of water beforehand! At our venue, we weren’t allowed to bring water inside. So please, please stay hydrated before you get inside!
  • Bring something to keep you occupied outside the venue. The wait before the doors open can seem unbearable, and you’ll be tempted to use your phone. Causing your battery to be at 30% before you’re even inside.
  • Eat before. You’re going to be in there for 3+ hours, you’re gonna get hungry.
  • Make sure to show up AT LEAST an hour early. Or else you’ll be at the complete end of the line.
  • Troye starts singing 2 hours after doors open. Don’t take it as him being late! I promise, he would do anything in his power to prevent that from happening.
  • Make sure to be polite and move so the person behind you can see. Being tall/short is uncontrollable, so make sure to be considerate of those around you.
  • Scream during the INSTRUMENTALS of the new songs! Those are the moments Troye will be looking for your reactions, and you’ll get to hear the lyrics instead of missing them!
  • Bring the comfiest shoes you own. Trust me. It’ll be a lifesaver.
  • Tweet, Snap, Instagram, and post it as much as POSSIBLE. You’ll love looking at the memories later.
  • However, don’t forget to enjoy the show! Put your phone away when WILD is playing, and sing and dance along with Troye.
  • Sing along to Talk Me Down, you’ll love seeing Troye’s smile.
  • Make sure anything you get from the concert, you upload to the tags #troye tour and #troyetour
  • If you bump into anyone, turning and saying sorry is polite. Pushing is bound to happen, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t apologize.
  • Make friends with those around you! Talk to the people in line in front of you, or maybe someone you’re next to at the concert. We’re all here to see Troye, so clearly you already have something in common!
  • If you bring a bag, make sure it isn’t heavy. You’ll have to carry it the whole time, after all.
  • And finally, put your ships aside for one night. You shouldn’t be fighting over tronnor or troyler, it’s Troye’s night. It’s best to just ignore your ships at the concert, then come home and talk about them. Please don’t fight in line over “what’s canon” because it should be about Troye and only Troye.
